In critical masking applications, temperature can often play a role in the performance of your masking tape products. We’re breaking down low, mid, and high temperature masking tapes to help you find a product suitable for your application!
Low Temp Requirements
For general painting and exposure to elevated temperatures, BT-1008 and BT-808 are good options.
BT-1008 is ideal for indoor, short term painting, masking, or bundling applications. The crepe paper backing of BT-808 is highly conformable and tear resistant, and this product has been successful in automotive paint applications.
Mid-Grade Temp Requirements
For gel coating and other masking applications with mid-grade temperature requirements, BT-7061 Killer Bee and BT-7065 are excellent choices. BT-7065 is also capable of multiple bake cycles.
When it comes to UV resistance, BT-7065 can be used outdoors for up to eight days and Killer Bee can endure up to 30 days in direct sunlight exposure.
- BT-7061 Killer Bee® is rated 248°F for up to 30 minutes
- BT-7065 is rated 248°F for up to 40 minutes
High Temp Requirements
In high temperature applications, BT-7051 Ultra Violet™ and BT-908 are premium masking products. Ultra Violet™ features a washi paper backing for areas of high conformability, while BT-908 features a thicker backing construction for easy one-piece removal.
- BT-7051 Ultra Violet™ is rated 300°F for 30 minutes
- BT-908 is rated 325°F for up to 30 minutes
