In critical masking applications, temperature can often play a role in the performance of your masking tape products.

We’re breaking down low, mid, and high temperature masking tapes to help you find a product suitable for your application!

Low Temp Requirements

For general painting and exposure to elevated temperatures, BT-1018 and BT-808 are good options.

BT-1018 is ideal for indoor, short term painting, masking, or bundling applications. The crepe paper backing of BT-808 is highly conformable and tear resistant, and this product has been successful in automotive paint applications.

  • BT-1018 is rated 180°F for up to one hour
  • BT-808 is rated 225°F for up to 30 minutes

Mid-Grade Temp Requirements

For gel coating and other masking applications with mid-grade temperature requirements, BT-7061 Killer Bee® and BT-7065 are excellent choices. BT-7065 is also capable of multiple bake cycles.

When it comes to UV resistance, BT-7065 can be used outdoors for up to eight days and Killer Bee® can endure up to 30 days in direct sunlight exposure.

High Temp Requirements

In high temperature applications, BT-7051 Ultra Violet™ and BT-908 are premium masking products. Ultra Violet™ features a washi paper backing for areas of high conformability, while BT-908 features a thicker backing construction for easy one-piece removal.
