Looking to regrip your favorite golf club? Regripping your golf club is a quick and easy way to step up your game. When it comes to finding a reliable golf grip tape, BT-480 stands out as an industry staple, known for its reliability and performance. Ready to get started? Here’s a step-by-step guide!
What you’ll need:
- Utility knife or straight blade
- Grip solvent
- Clean cloth
- BT-480 Double Sided Tape
Application Steps
1.Start by removing your old golf grip
Point the face of the club towards the ground. Cut the old grip open by using a utility knife, being sure to not cut towards your body. Peel off the old grip.
2.Remove the old adhesive on the golf club
Once peeling off the grip, remove the old adhesive by peeling it or scraping it with a utility knife. Remove any remaining residue with adhesive remover and a clean cloth.
3.Get out your roll of BT-480
BT-480 is a preferred tape for golf club regripping due to its ability to maintain adhesion under stress and high shear resistance. The industry standard size is 48MM or 2IN width.
4.Wrap the golf club with BT-480
Check the new grip to determine how much of the shaft needs taping. Apply ¾ of the BT-480 tape in a spiral pattern to where you want your grip to be.
5.Remove the liner and apply the tape
Once wrapped, remove the liner of the tape and apply onto the club. Add a little extra tape to the end of the shaft. Layer the tape to achieve the desired thickness.
6.Apply your grip solvent
Use your finger or a golf tee to plug the hold at the end of the grip, then pour the solvent into the open end of the grip. Remove your finger (or tee) and pour the solvent onto the tape on the club shaft. Put a bucket or tray underneath to catch the excess solvent.
7.Slide grip onto golf club
While the tape is still wet, align the grip and pull it down over the end of the club shaft. Be sure that the end of the club shaft is in line with the end of the grip. There’s an approximate window of one minute before the tape is strongly adhered. After that, let the new grip dry for several hours before using.
8.Play some golf!
Whether you're a seasoned pro or a casual golfer, using the right golf grip tape, like BT-480, can make all the difference. Now it’s time to go out and play some golf with your regripped club! ⛳
