In the past 30 years, Bron Tapes introduced, and continues to expand, a comprehensive portfolio of polyethylene tape for a broad range of applications. In this assortment, we are proud to offer our DefendFR™ flame retardant poly tapes.
What does FR stand for, and what purposes does it serve?
An FR tape, or flame-retardant tape, is a type of adhesive tape that is designed to have fire-resistant properties.
These tapes are specifically designed to resist or slow down the spread of flames in the event of a fire and are commonly used in applications where fire safety is a concern, such as government buildings, hospitals, and military bases.
Why is DefendFR™ better than standard poly tape?
All DefendFR™ tapes undergo rigorous testing to conform to the standards of NFPA 701 and ASTM E84, which is comparable to UL 723. Meeting the NFPA 701 fire retardancy standard is mandatory for textiles used in many public spaces like schools, churches, theaters, and commercial buildings. DefendFR™® tapes ensure that you are adhering to specific building codes and regulatory requirements.
DefendFR™ products are all 7 mil or higher in thickness, built for demanding applications that require durability and strength. Other low-cost poly tapes are much less likely to hold up to demanding applications.
Some DefendFR™ products are designed with clean removal capabilities depending on your substrate requirements. DefendFR™ products such as BT-4010 and BT-4028 are UV and weather resistant, making them an excellent choice for outdoor applications.
